Cambodia has a fairly hot and humid climate which may be very different from you home. The country is still in lack of adequate medical facilities for treating emergencies. It's advisable to have to good preparation before departing on your journey to Cambodia. While you are traveling in the country and touring different places, exercising care to your health is definitely necessary to make your holiday smooth, or in the worst case it could help you out of the situation with the least damages.

Before you embark on the trip to Cambodia, it's recommended that you check with your doctor for the most up-to-date information as to possible outbreak of disease, health requirements ,  necessary vaccination. And be sure you are well-informed of the destinations you plan to visit. You are advised to check with your doctor for a travel immunization regarding protection against malaria, typhoid, tetanus, hepatitis A and B. If you plan to travel to the remote areas, you should check the anti-malaria medication that best suits you. Also be prepared with enough insect repellents to keep you away from mosquitoes. 

Depending on the time of your trip in Cambodia, but make sure you have light-weight clothes, preferably from natural materials, hat and sun screen. Some wats and the Royal Palace, long pants and sleeved shirts and make sure you have them in your luggage. Also remember to bring along pillow, eye mask and sunglasses.

It's always recommended to have adequate health insurance covering emergency evacuation and repatriation before departure. You should inform you family and doctor your itinerary and the necessary contact details where they could contact you when needed. Always bring along the contact details of the person that when something happens, they could be the one that is contacted to bring you out of the difficulty.

When you are traveling in the country, it's easy to know that long flights, jet legs, climate change, different in time zones, different food and drinks make you tired and your immunity system weaker. Staying up late, getting up early and drinking too much may be harmful to your health too. To be healthy is important for a smooth holiday and you are the only one to know how to stay balanced for yourself.

When you are traveling in Cambodia and if you don't have a strong digestive system, then it's advisable that you don't use ice in your drinks and makes sure all the food is well cooked. You should be the one to peel the fruits yourself if any doubt about hygiene. Remember that you may get dehydrated and exhausted when traveling so  drink plenty of water when feeling hot.

Disease may be carried by insects, by infection...Please exercise due care when you are in an infected area or in contact with infected people.

If you are not feeling well you should immediately seek advice from a professional. In serious cases, evacuation or repatriation should be the solution. Remember that if you know how to deal with situations well, then even in the worst one you'll manage to get out of it and probably have a nice holiday.
