THE CO TU

Derivatives:  Gao, Ha, Phuong, and Ca-tang
Population:  50,458 people (as of 1999)

Locality:  Thua Thien – Hue and Quang Nam Provinces.

Customs and culture 
The Co Tu believe in King of Heaven. Patriarchy is dominant in Co Tu socienties. The children take the family name from the father and inheritance is reserved to sons only.

Language:  Co Tu language belongs to the Mon-Khmer Group.

Dress: Men wear loincloths. Women wear skirts and short vests.

Economy:  The Co Tu practice a slash and burn cultivation.
