THE LA HU
Derivatives: Xa La Vang, Co Rung, Khu Sung, and Kha Quy
Population: 6,874 people (as of 1999)
Locality: Muong Te District of Lai Chau Province.
Customs and culture
The La Hu live in villages built on mountain slopes. The house of the La Hue is divided into different sections by bamboo screen.
The La Hu worship their ancestor and believe in animism.
The family property can only be passed down to the sons.
Language
The La Hu Language belong to Sino-Tbetan Group. Many of their songs are in Ha Nhi Language.
Dress
Women wear trousers and a ankle-long shirt. Their shirts are colorfully decorated and embroidered.
Economy
The La Hu live on slash-and-burn cultivation and hunting. La Hu men are very skilled at blacksmithing and making rattan chairs, trays, mats.
