THE MANG

Population: 2,663 people (as of 1999)
Locality: Sin Ho, Muong Te, Phong Tho, and Muong Lay Districts of Lai Chau Province.
Customs and culture:
The Mang live in houses on stilts.
Language: The Mang language belongs to the Mon-Khmer Group.
Dress:
Men wear a short vest and trousers. Women wear a long skirt, a short vest open at the front, and a decorated piece of apron at the front.
Economy:
The Mang practice slash-and-burn cultivation.
