THE XO DANG

Derivatives: Xo Dang, Ca-Dong, To-Dra, Ha-Lang, Mo-Nam, Ta-Tri, Ka Rang, Bri La, and Con Lan

Population: 127,148 people (as of 1999)

Locality: The Xo Dang live mainly in Kon Tum Province. Still there are some small communities  in the mountainous areas of Quang Ngai and Quang Nam Provinces.

Customs and Culture
The Xo Dang believe in animism. The whole community respect the village chief.

Xo Dang people do not have family name. A person's name is begun with a prefix indicating the sex of the person, "A" for men, and "Y" for women.

The Xo Dang have simple wedding ceremony. After the wedding, the couple live in rotation of their families before having their own.

Language: The Xo Dang belong to the Mon-Khmer Group.

Dress:  skirts for women and loincloth for men.

Economy: Farming is their main livelihood.
