Let's join Paradissa on a culture tour to visit the national heritage sites of Laos in 5 days, 4 nights.

The tour features the cultural legacies of Laos from the century-old temples and wats with Lao traditional architecture in Vientiane and Luang Prabang to the mysterious Plain of Jars which dates back to no less than 2,000 years ago.

The pace of travel is moderate. The accommodations selected for the tour include boutique hotels in Vientiane and Luang Prabang and basic standard hotels in Xieng Khouang. All meals, except for daily breakfast, are not included leaving you the freedom for exploring the local cuisine.

 Day1    Arrive in Vientiane (no included meals)
On arrival in Vientiane, you are welcomed by our local team and transferred to the hotel. After a short rest, we start to visit the major sights of the capital city including the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image earlier, That Luang Stupa, and the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s version of Arc de Triomphe.

Day2    Vientiane – Xieng Khouang (by flight)  (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transferred to Vientiane Airport for a short flight to Xiengkhouang, which was devastated by American bombings between 1964 and 1973. Upon arrival, welcomed by our local team and transferred to the archaeological site of the Plain of Jars where hundreds of large stone jars are littered all over the plateau. Then, we have a tour of the old capital of Muang Khoun Province and the nearby villages, home to the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam people.
Free time for lunch and dinner.

Day3    Xieng Khouang – Luang Prabang (by road) (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Then, we have time to visit Central Market of Phonsavanh where the different local hill tribes  barter goods. After that, we bid farewell to Phonsavan and travel on the scenic mountainous road toward Luang Prabang. On the way, we visit Thampra, a site with more than 200 years old Buddha images. There are various opportunities to visit the Hmong and other hill tribe villages along the road. We arrive in Luang Prabang in the afternoon, check into the hotel and have free time.

Day4    Luang Prabang - Pak Ou cave - Luang Prabang/Free time (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
In the morning, we enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Capital City of Laos. We visit the oldest temple of Wat Sene Souk Haram (Wat Sen) and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represent the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple. Then, we move onto Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. After that, we climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for the panoramic view of Luang Prabang and the green surrounding countryside.

In the afternoon, we then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where the villages make the rice wine.

Day5    Depart Luang Prabang (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Visit the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign, and the Central Market. Then, you have free time until we transfer you back to the airport for your departure flight.
