Hanoi-MaiChau-SonLa-DienBienPhu-PhongTho-Sapa

Day1: Hanoi-MaiChau

Leaving Hanoi at 9.30, we drive 150 km (4 hours) from Hanoi to MaiChau. On the way, you'll have a lot of chances of taking pictures of the pictureresque scenery in the North of Vietnam characterized with beautiful mountains and colorful hill tribes who can be seen and visited on the way. We stop for lunch in HoaBinh town. Overnight with an ethnic White Thai family in a house on stilt in MaiChau.

Day2: MaiChau-SonLa (B)

To day we drive 170 km(5 hours) from MaiChau to SonLa. As we drive, we'll see sceneries and people more and more different, more  isolated from mainstream world. After checking into your hotel in SonLa town and having lunch, we visit the famous SonLa prison in which many Vietnamese Communists were jailed in the 1930s-1940s. After that we'll have time to dip ourselves in the warm water of SonLa hot spring. Overnight in SonLa.

Day3: SonLa-DienBienPhu (B)

After breakfast, we drive 150 km(4 hours) from SonLa to DienBienPhu. The road is rough, but the scenery is unbelievably beautiful and magnificent! We'll stop at PhaDin and LungLo Pass to take to breathtaking view of the area. Arriving in DienBienPhu, we check into our hotel and have lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the historical site including the museum, A1 hill and the Commander's Post. You'll have better understanding of the famous battles that brought victory to the VietMinh and Vietnam over the French colonialists in 1954. We'll also come to the Black Thai villages which have been famous with the traditional scarf (Khan Phieu). Overnight in DienBienPhu.

Day4: DienBienPhu-PhongTho (B)

We drive 270 km (8 hours)from DienBienPhu to PhongTho. Our destination today is PhongTho town. It's in a beautiful valley and we can take a walk to the surrounding villages which home to many hill tribes. Overnight in PhongTho.

Day5: PhongTho SaPa (B)

We drive 80 km(2.5 hours) from PhongTho to Sapa which home to 7 hill tribes. We'll have time to explore their villlages and cultures. In the afternoon, we visit CatCat waterfall and CatCat Black H'Mong Village

Day6: SaPa town (B)

Full day exploring hill tribes' villages around SaPa town. We'll visit Red Dzao village of TaPhin, Black H'Mong village of LaoChai, Giay village of TaVan. Overnight in Sapa.

Day7: Sapa-Hanoi (B)

We drive 380 km ( 9 hours) back to Hanoi. On the way, we will take some breaks for visiting some hill tribe villages. We'll have lunch en route before arriving in Hanoi .
