The battlefield tour from Hue to the DMZ and Haburger Hill visit the combat sites and recall the Hill Battles around Khe Sanh, the Battle of Khe Sanh and Battle of Hamburger Hill which took place from 1967-1969. The tour is for war veterans, historians and travelers with special interest in history.

Battlefield Tour in Hue – DMZ – Hamburger Hill Overview

The tour is a historical adventure tour which requires some hiking at Khe Sanh and at the Hamburger Hill. The knowledge on the tour is the development of the battles, composition and disposition of the forces, the strategic or key points of each battle. Besides, we’ll learn a lot of the history back in time at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and the DMZ.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 Hue – DMZ (Quang Tri Citadel – Con Tien – Doc Mieu – Vinh Moc – Camp Carroll – Khe Sanh) (no included meals)

0800 A.M Picked up from your hotel and take a trip on the Street Without Joy northwards to the former DMZ. We will visit the site of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and recall the fierce battle in 1972. Then we’ll proceed to visit the sites around Route 1: Con Tien, Doc Mieu, Gio Linh, Ben Hai River which was the former demarcation line between North and South Vietnam and the famous Vinh Moc Tunnel, former site of Camp Carroll.

Then, proceed to the once infamous Route 9 and visit: Rockpile, the Dakrong Bridge and traces of the once legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, Khe Sanh Combat Base with the former airfield of Ta Con, Lang Vay.

Day2 Hill 861/ Khe Sanh – the Dakrong Bridge – A Luoi (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
The whole morning is for exploring Hill 861 and recall the hill battles back in 1967-1968 around Khe Sanh, composition and disposition of forces.
Then descend the hill for lunch break at Khe Sanh.
In the afternoon, travel back Route 9 to the Dakrong Bridge, then turn into Ho Chi Minh Trail for the Ashau Valley. Visit the former A So Airfield, Ripcord Support Fire Base (from mountain base only).
Overnight at the Ashau Valley in A Luoi (Thua Thien Hue).

Day3 Visit and Hamburger Hill/ A Luoi – Hue (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to the former LZ, then hike up for exploring Hamburger Hill. We’ll have time to recall the battle, and the key high points.
Descending the hill, we’ll travel back to Hue and arrive in the afternoon. We trust you had a great battlefield tour with Paradissa and lots of interesting history.
