Trekking to Bach Moc Luong Tu (officially reverted to its correct name Ky Quan San Mountain from April 7th, 2018) is a very hard adventure to the 4th highest mountain peak in Vietnam of 3,046m above sea level. The tour is for 5 days, 4 nights. While the trip can be done all year round, it is strongly recommended you do it in the dry season: November – April. It is freezing cold in late November, December, January.

Notes: The trip need good preparations and Paradissa would need at least 7 days before each departure. A deposit/payment will have been completed before any arrangements.

Bach Moc Luong Tu is not for everyone and you have to be fit to take on the challenges here which include long-distance treks (>14km on the first day), uneven rocky paths, slippery paths, vertical rock cliffs… It is extremely difficult and dangerous when it rains.
On the tour, you will have 2 nights on the train and 2 nights at the guest house at 2,100m above sea level. The train compartment is 4-sharing and the guesthouse is a homestay in a very simple condition with hard bed and blankets only. The blankets at the guesthouse may be not as clean as you would expect.
Daily breakfast on the trek is with noodle soup and with eggs or meat (either pork, chicken or beef). Picnic lunches are with steamed rice balls (onigiri) and meat. Dinners are hot cooked by our local tour guide. Drinking water is supplied on the trek.

Detailed itinerary
Day1 Hanoi free day/Overnight Train for Lao Cai (no included meal)
Taxi from your hotel to Hanoi Railway Station.
Overnight on board the train (2130 or 2200 Train).
Note: 4-shared soft sleeper compartment with air-con.
Day2 Lao Cai – Sang Ma Sao (Bat Xat) – Muoi Mountain (2,100m) (B/L/D)
Arriving at Lao Cai Train Station (0530 A.M or 0630 A.M), have refreshment and breakfast at a hotel nearby.. Then continue to Sang Ma Sao.
1000 A.M Start the 7-hour trek (14km) to Nui Muoi (2,100m). The types of terrain: small walking path with gradients going up slightly (3 hours), flat-terrain path (2 hours), steep and uneven tiny path (2 hours).
Picnic lunch.
1700-1800 Arrive at a homestay at Nui Muoi.
1900 Dinner and overnight at Nui Muoi.
Day3 Muoi Mountain – Bach Moc Luong Tu Peak (3,046m) – Muoi Mountain (B/L/D)
0700 A.M Breakfast.
0730 A.M Depart on the trek to the summit. The terrain includes: walking paths in forests (gentle gradients) and vertically steep rock cliffs.
1230 P.M Arrive at the summit. Picnic lunch.
13:00 Descend the mountain.
17:00 Arrive back at Nui Muoi (2,100m).
Dinner and overnight at Nui Muoi.

Day4 Muoi Mountain – Sang Ma Sao – Lao Cai/Overnight Train for Hanoi (B/L/D)
0700 A.M Breakfast.
0730 A.M Descend the mountain and trek back to Sang Ma Sao (6 hours, about 14km).
1330-1400 Arrive back at Sang Ma Sao. Picnic lunch.
1430-1500 Transfer back to Lao Cai. Check into your day-use room at a hotel, have time for refreshment and a hot shower.
Dinner at the hotel or nearby restaurant.
2030 or 2100 Overnight train for Hanoi.
Overnight on board the train.
