The hill tribes of Sapa cultivate their crops on terraces on mountain slopes that could be breathtaking if you happen to visit the area at the right time: in late May and early June when the terraces are filled up with water and local farmers start transplanting rice, and in late September and early October when the rice gradually turns into golden colors. Thanks to rains starting from April, the water fills up one terrace then overflows into another below and another… And the whole mountain slopes in Sapa as well as in the mountains in north-western Vietnam will turn into huge mirrors reflecting sunlight.
