The Mekong Delta of Vietnam is the vast region of low-lying land stretching from south-west of Ho Chi Minh City to the cape of Ca Mau and the beach of Ha Tien in Rach Gia Gulf. The Mekong Delta area includes the provinces of Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau. Some areas are seasonally flooded and some are permanently under water. There are some low mountains in the area, but most of the region is flat and of fertile land.

The Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam has a tropical climate with 2 seasons a year: the rainy season from May to November and the dry season from December to April. In the dry season, there may be winter monsoon bringing the chill from the North and Central Region of Vietnam to the area, which makes the air pleasant.

The Mekong Delta is inhabited by mostly the Kinh People and the Khmer People. There are small Hoa communities (Chinese) and Cham communities in the area, also. This helps to shape up the colorful culture of the region.
