Travel Resumes After Ketsana

Travel resumes in the Central Region of Vietnam after Typhoon Ketsana. Da Nang Airport was reopened on 30-September after having been closed for 3 days. Cleaning-up and recovery efforts are being made actively in Da Nang and Hoi An. Many hotels and resorts in Hoi An are ready to welcome the travelers back again today and all recovery works shall have been done by 15-October. All travelers with Paradissa are to have the itinerary unchanged now.

Traffic Jams on the Road to Sai Gon Airport

Part of the road from Sai Gon city center to the airport is under construction and traffic jams are the daily norm. All travelers with Paradissa who are to go the the airport are to leave 3 hours before the flight if the flight is in the morning or early afternoon. Should the flight be in late afternoon or early evening, departure from the hotel is to be before 2:30 pm.

Rainy Season in Vietnam Northern Mountains

The rainy season has started in the remote mountains of northern Vietnam and will last through October-November, 2009. During the time, Paradissa will suspend all hard trekking tours, all mountain biking tours and all motorcycling tours in the North East of Vietnam including those in Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang Provinces. Other short trekking/walking tours around Ba Be National Park and the day trip to Ban Gioc Waterfall in Cao Bang by car/van are still operated as usual.

Roads Under Construction in North West of Vietnam

Roads from Sa Pa to Dien Bien Phu  in the North West of Vietnam are now under construction now. Preparation works are underway for the going-to-be hydro power plant at the once Lai Chau Town. Travel by car/jeep on this leg of the road is still possible, but with slower pace.
