The Lake Lake of 500ha is a natural lake in Lien Son Town, Lak District, Dak Lak Province, 56km south of Buon Ma Thuot City and is untouched by mass tourism. The lake is on the way between Buon Ma Thuot City and Da Lat.

Overview

The Lak Lake is surrounded by forested mountains and there are several villages of the M’nong ethnic people around the lake. Some of the villages can be visited in combination with a pirogue trip on the lake.

It is possible to have elephant ride to visit the tourist highlights around the Lak Lake but Paradissa would recommend you do not take these tours. For the last 2 decades or so, no successful birth has been made by the elephants in the region due to overwork and bad living conditions.

Weather and Climate

The climate at the Lak Lake is temperature with two seasons: dry season from December through April and the rainy season from May through November. The temperatures are mostly pleasant all year round. The best time to visit the Lak Lake is during the dry season.

Things to do and tourist attractions

- Piroque trip on the Lak Lake;
- Visiting ethnic villages: Jun, M’lieng… on which you’ll experience the long house on stilts, traditional performances, traditional music, local ethnic cuisine,...
- Visiting former King Bao Dai Summer Palace with scenic views of the surrounding countryside.
- Bike tours in the peaceful countryside around the lake.

Accommodations at the Lak Lake

There are simple hotels and guest houses at the Lien Son Town. Alternatively you can stay at the Lak Lake in simple bungalows with views of the lake. Luxury travel services are not yet available in the area.
