The Battle of Dien Bien Phu helped the Vietnamese to gain independence to half of the country. The Battle of Dien Bien Phu was an inspiration to other countries which had been under control of colonialism that they could fight off colonialism to gain back independence to their own country and people.

With the aftermath of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, it was clear that a small and poorly equipped guerrilla force could grow into a regular army who could win a set-piece battle against an enemy with much more dominated firepower. In our article series, Paradissa will bring you to one miracle after another which resulted in the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu. We will start with the American-made 105mm howitzers used by the Viet Minh during this campaign.

Paradissa offers intellectual battlefield tours to explore the different mountains and hills where the Viet Minh's planted American-made 105mm howitzers to rain down barrage on the French positions during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. Each of these tours takes 3/4 of a day or a full day and requires trekking for 5-10km.
