The Xuan Thuy National Park is a system of mangrove forest by the seaside, rivermouths, islands, tidal wetland and flooded areas in Giao Thuy District of Nam Dinh Province (Giao Minh Commune, Ninh Binh Province now). The national park is 150km southeast of Hanoi.
The Xuan Thuy National Park covers an area of over 15,000 hectares and is home to more than 222 bird species, 1,583 fauna species and 330 flora species.
A birding tour at The Xuan Thuy National Park can be done in 1, 2 or 3 days. At this national park, you can spot several water bird species: coot, eurasian moorhen, asian openbill, different species of kingfishers, different species of pipits, egrets, bitterns,... During the bird migration season, there is a wide range of bird species making stop at Xuan Thuy: Black-faced spoonbill, Eurasian spoonbill, godwits, dowitchers, pelican, storks, egrets, fairy pitta...
