Cat Tien National Park (also known as Nam Cat Tien National Park) is among the best spots in Vietnam for birding. The national park attracts a large number of bird watchers in the dry season from November through May. 

During the rainy season from May through October birding may not that favorable but with efforts and experience, the results are not that disappointing.

Cat Tien National Park covers an area of 71,187 hectares which is mostly surrounded by the Dong Nai River. The area of Cat Tien National Park is in between the highlands and the delta, hence an amazing ecosystem with representatives of species of different climatic zones. The national park is also the site where several migratory bird species winter which makes the dry season here busy in every sense.

The forest types at Cat Tien National Park includes planted forest, bamboo forest, evergreen forest and some patches with deciduous trees. There are also grassland and flooded areas in the Cat Tien National Park. The natural conditions of the national park makes it habitats for a wide range of flora and fauna species. It is no doubt that Cat Tien is among the best places in Vietnam for spotting wildlife and watching birds, be it endemic species or migratory ones.
