Moc Chau is a plateau in Son La Province with the elevation of 1.050m above sea, stretching over 80km in length and 25km in width. The plateau has a temperate climate with average temperature in the summer around 18-20 Degrees Celsius; with annual rainfall around 1500-1600mm and average humidity around 85%.

The economy of Moc Chau is based largely on agriculture like growing peach, plums, green tea, vegetables and cows for milk. Moc Chau Travel Guide, Tourist Attractions in Moc Chau

1/ Mount Pha Luong

Mount Pha Luong with the summit of 2,000m above sea level is right on the border between Vietnam and Laos, 50km from Moc Chau Town. It is the border region and foreigners are required to obtain a permit from the provincial army to access the area. The trip from Moc Chau to Pha Luong takes one day with the last 12 km on motorbike. It is not possible to access Mount Pha Luong when the road is wet.

2/ Tea plantations

The conical hills in Moc Chau is for growing tea and for growing grass to feed cows. But these hills are so captivating that photography travellers take to Moc Chau for photo trips.

3/ Flower fields

In October and November, the spinach farms at Moc Chau throw out flowers that attract lots of young Vietnamese tourists.

How to get there

Most visitors to Moc Chau from Hanoi would travel via Route 6 which is in good conditions. There may be temporary traffic halts during the rainy season (September-November) due to landslides in Hoa Binh Province. Alternatively, you can travel to Moc Chau via Phu Tho Province. The road via this route is smaller, and the travel distance is about 40km longer though.
