Tà Cơn Airfield is in Hòa Thành Village, Tân Hợp Commune, Hướng Hóa District, Quảng Trị Province. The airfield is 5km north of Khe Sanh Township, 22km east of Lao Bao Border Checkpoint, 65km southwest of Dong Ha City. 

Ta Con Airfield was an important military stronghold of the US Army during the period 1966-1968 of the Vietnam War. The nearby strongholds included that at Lang Vay (Lang Vei) and Khe Sanh Township.

The runway of the airfield of Ta Con was 2km long and 1km wide running east-west surrounded by system of bunkers, tunnels and fire support bases. The Ta Con Airfield was capable of accommodating C-130 and C-123 aircrafts, all kinds of helicopters.

Ta Con Airfield and high points around the airfield were targets of major attacks by the PAVN from 20-February-1968 through April 1968. In July 1968, the US abandoned Khe Sanh strongholds including the Ta Con Airfield and on 9-July-1968 the PAVN took over the Ta Con Airfield concluding Route-9 Campaign.

The total area of Ta Con Airfield nowadays as a relic is 10,000m2 with displays of C130 – UH-1 – CH-47, tanks, ...
