Vinh Phuc Province is a buffer area between the the Red River Delta and the mountains in the north-western region of Vietnam. Vinh Phuc is 50km north-west of Hanoi. Vinh Phuc is getting to be a big industrial areas in Vietnam nowadays with investments from global companies.

Vinh Phuc is bordered to the north by Tuyen Quang, to the east by Thai Nguyen, to the west by Phu Tho and to the south and south-east by Ha Noi. The Lo River (a tributary of Red River) which flows south-easterly is the natural border between Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho.

The high mountain range at Tam Dao with peaks higher an 1,500m above sea level is located to the north-east of Vinh Phuc. It is flat plain and flat river basins in the south and south-east of Tam Dao.

There are four seasons at Vinh Phuc which is the same as for the Red River Delta: Spring from March through April, summer from May through July, autumn from August through October, and winter from November through February. There may be typhoons in the summer and autumn. The annual rainfall is 1,400-1,600mm. The temperatures range from below freezing point to 39oC; it is much lower temperatures in Tam Dao area than the lowland.

There are 6 ethnic groups in Vinh Phuc: Kinh, San Diu, Nung, Dao, Cao Lan, Muong.

 Tourist attractions and things to do at Vinh Phuc

The mountainous terrain and flat valleys of Vinh Phuc offers idyllic landscape to the visitors. The most popular attractions in Vinh Phuc include Tam Dao hill station and Tay Thien Pagoda, both of which provides chances for sightseeing tours, eco tours and trekking tours. Tao Dao has a cool climate all year around and is very popular in the summer when tourists flock to town to escape the heat of the Red River Delta.

Tam Dao National Park with dense forest, rich biodiversity (1,436 flora species and 1,141 fauna species many of which are listed as endangered) and cool climate offers relaxing holidays, bird watching tours, ecotours and trekking tours.

Tay Thien is a big of Buddhist pagoda, a popular pilgrimage destination, is located west of Tam Dao, on the same mountain range. Apart from the road, you can trek through dense forest to Tay Thien. The trek is hard and takes full day.

Getting there and away
The road system in Vinh Phuc and between Vinh Phuc and neighboring provinces is great. It takes less than 1 hour to travel to Vinh Phuc from Hanoi via Route 2. The provincial capital of Vinh Phuc is Vinh Yen City, only 30km from Noi Bai International Airport.
