Traditional festivals are considered the traditional cultural activities of all countries, including the Vietnamese people. They involve all social classes, urban and rural alike, and have become a necessary part of people's lives for many centuries.

Vietnam Economy

Before the French's arrival in Vietnam, there's used to be a feudal system in the kingdom. That time the economy based largely on agriculture. Commerce was small in the economy. The agricultural land that time was either owned by the king, by the royal family, or by the mandarins. The peasants worked on the mandarin's land or the royal land and had to pay a big share and taxes to the king and/or the mandarins.

Dong Thap

Dong Thap Province is located to the north of the Mekong Delta, in southern Vietnam. The province shares border with Cambodia to the north, with Long An to the east, with Tien Giang and Vinh Long to the south-east, with Can Tho to the south-west, and with An Giang to the west. It may be possible that Dong Thap is out of the way, so most travellers don't make trips through the province. Dong Thap is visited by few adventure travellers who love straying from the well beaten path in Vietnam.

Da Lat - Lam Dong

Da Lat is located on the Lang Biang Plateau, southern area of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Da Lat is characterized by pine forests, lakes, waterfalls, beautiful flower fields and French architecture.

Cu Chi Tunnel

Cu Chi is 65 km (1.5 hour drive) northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. The tunnel network of Cu Chi became legendary in the war for facilitating the local guerrillas to gain victory over the American troops.  At its height, these three-leveled tunnels stretched over 250 km. Touring Cu Chi, the travelers would learn more about the war and the resilience of the Vietnamese.

Chau Doc - An Giang

Chau Doc is an idyllic riverine town located close to the Cambodian border and inhabited by the communities of Kinh, Cham, Khmer and Chinese. There are numerous pagodas in Chau Doc which have Chinese and Hindu influence and which are colorfully painted.

Cat Ba Island - Hai Phong

Cat Ba Island is located south of Ha Long Bay. The island is 354 km2 and inhabited by 25 000 peole. Half of the Island and about 90 km2 of the surrounding water was declared a national park in 1986.

Buon Ma Thuot - Dak Lak

Buon Ma Thuot or Ban Me Thuat is located deep in the Central Highlands, about 360 km from Sai Gon. Buon Ma Thuot is the capital city of Dak Lak Province of Vietnam and the "capital city of the Vietnamese coffee". Buon Ma Thuot by far is relatively off-the-tourist track. But the area is certainly worth the trip.
